Dale W Cox is a food scientist with BS and MS degrees in Food Science, a licensed general contractor, lifelong LEGO® enthusiast, and self-proclaimed original Star Wars nut. Growing up in an Air Force family gave him the opportunity to live across the country and since then has lived in Mexico and worked in Japan, South Korea, England, and South Africa.

With more than 23 years of experience in the food industry, Dale has developed new products and improved manufacturing operations for some of the nation’s leading food companies. When he's not exploring food science, you might find him operating heavy equipment and moving dirt—something he enjoys sharing on one of his YouTube channels.

Alongside his wife, LeAnne, Dale has owned and operated several businesses, including real estate investments, mobile home parks, and land development ventures. Today, as the founder of Beakers & Bricks, LLC, he creates print and self-paced online food science and physics courses for K–12 students. He also continues to expand the popular Edible Knowledge for the Curious Cook series.

Dale’s food philosophy is simple: eat as close to nature as possible, enjoy convenience foods in moderation, and use knowledge—not fear—to navigate food trends and fads. Sharing that practical “Edible Knowledge” is the core mission of his work.

A devoted student of history and always reserving the right to be wrong, Dale lives in Asheboro, North Carolina, with LeAnne and their three children.
